Forgive me..

Forgive me brothers and sisters, for i have sinned.  The sin you may ask?

Gluttony......

I confess to eating 3 milky way crispy rolls today.  I was stressed and someone had brought them into work and i just couldnt resist.  I am weak!  I also had one yesterday but we shall ignore that fact

I dont know what im playing at - there just isnt any excuse - my penance shall be to increase excercise next week and reflect on the 'whys'.

Ok ive just got brave and googled the amount of calories in them, expecting them to be around the 200 calorie mark, and they're actually 64 calories! Ok i dont feel soooo bad, but to be honest, it was just luck.  I could have eaten 3 mars bars at 200 calories each, and then felt just as bad.  So the penance stands!

Weigh In Week 18 & 19

Hey folks,

its been a while!

Last week i lost 2lbs, and this week i also lost 2lbs.  I am very pleased with these losses especially as ive been out to eat quite a few times!

My weight has now fallen into the 13's brackets - i cant believe it if im honest!  I keep thinking, its not going to work for me.  But here i am in the bloody 13's!!  So now i have accepted the 13's, i am now looking forward to hitting the 12's - if i continue loosing 2lbs a week, i should hit the 12's by 6th August.

Wish me luck! x

Weigh In Week 18

So ive not been over eager to post as i lost 0lbs last week argh!  Although i didnt have the best week - two BBQ's and a restaurant meal out (still teeny amounts but obviously more than normal).  Cant say im overjoyed at loosing nothing but when i compare what i would have eaten prior to this operation, then im pleased!  No weight on woohoo!

Im secretly hoping for a 3lb loss this week though haha!

Weigh In Week 17

Hello all,

today i lost 2lbs. Now i am pleased with the 2lbs, but today marks another important milestone.  As of 8th February, i have todate, lost 4 stones exactly!  Thats right, 4 stones!!  Im over the moon!!

This picture shows you what 1lb of fat looks like, and what 5lbs of fat looks like.

4 stones is 56lbs, so that means ive lost 56 of those nasty buggers!!  I actually feel quite grose thinking about it, but yay its gone!

Hairloss

So id read about hair loss on some WLS forums prior to surgery.  It didnt seem as an important thing to worry about -as the surgery and my actual weightloss!

Oh how things change....

3 months post surgery, pretty much to the day, i started to notice more hair loss than normal - i have long hair so im used to shedding like a cat, but now it seemed like more was coming out. So for the last 3 weeks, everytime i wash my hair or brush it, im left standing with a furball in my hand.  Today i washed my hair (cue furball) then brushed it (cue furball).  Loads of hair came out!!  If i continue at this rate, im going to be in deep shit.  I am slightly panicked - there is nothing i can do about it.  I wonder how long this will go on for?

My hair was one of the few things i liked about myself pre-op, and now im really freaking out because its just falling out! (see pics)

The science bit...

The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 3 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 3 to 4 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss.

Sudden hair loss is known as Telogen Effluvium and is usually abrupt and expected in majority of post surgery cases.

Useful website

Now does this reassure me?  No.  But i guess i should be taking my vitamins more regularly (i always forget zoinks!)  Also ive got to up my protein, ive became a little lazy in terms of ensuring im hitting 70-80 grams of protein a day.  I think next week im getting back on www.myfitnesspal.com so i can monitor my protein intake.

I also read somewhere that a brazil nut contains your GDA of selenium (also helpful in hairloss), so think im going to have to grab me a bag!

Will keep you updated on the hair situation!
